The Montegreco Company is located between the tows of Massa and Carrara, in a province rich of authentic flavors and genuine values, with gusto for simple living, and a love for good things. The Montegreco Company is a family business. The wine production is done exclusively in their cellars, using grapes selected form their vineyards. The growing and the production of the Candia wine boasts centuries' old tradition, the desire of making wine has been passed on from generations until the present days. Obviously, multiple have been the innovations, with a single goal: progress in the result, developing in the vineyard and in the cellar, the certainty of a waelth in quality that does not know age. More than 9000 acres, between the Tyrrhnian Sea and the hills of the Appennines, a climate ideal for extremely particular vine stocks, such as the regal "Vennentino large grape", that on this soil grows strong and luxurious, surrounded by unspoiled greenery. With exclusivity of cultivation in the valley, it rises in Montegreco to the apex of the Valley of Candia, which gives name to name to the "Candia dei Colli Apuani" D.O.C. (In Italy, D.O.C. is an government regulated standard that guarantees its origin and is traceable to its source at all times). Climate, microclimate, altitude of the vineyards, the soil, and the constant thermal excursion between day and night are the makers of a raw substance, of undoubted quality sublime in wine: Vermentino Reale, Trebbiano, Malvasia, Sangiovese, Giacchè, Barsaglina, Merlot are grown in the vineyard of the Pucci's family. Although of old school, the cellars are supported by indispensable modern technology, the production is of "restricted" quantity in order to offer the best quality in all its selections. The futuristic vision always follows the old tradition (old heart) to make a natural wine, unique, with fragrances of nostalgic times. The prospect for the future reaffirms the concept of making wine naturally, perceived as an opportunity to promote in the style and quality of life, for the ancient Romans, the care taking of what was considered most important in life. (That serene disposition of the soul, favorable toward to the studies and and the philosophy belonging to only he who lives a free life, not overburden by duties and work). The wine, a live beverage, rich, unique, never the same, transmits significant flavors given by the soil, vine stocks, climate and the grower of the vineyard. Wine gives serenity, gusto for happy living; it is gift from God to combat sadness and gloom. The Pucci family has been involved in the wine-making business since 1650, since Giovanni Maria purchased grounds in the territory of Saint Lorenzo, adjacent the church of Montelibero. In all of its long history, through 6 generations, the family has always conducted and managed the business directly. Today, it is managed by Manuela Pucci. Although it has an important role in maintaining the tradition of Italian Oenology (wine-making), the Montegreco business is also one of the most dynamic and far-seeing Tuscan producers of quality wines and possesses properties concentrated in the best area of the Candia DOC. They have dedicated great effort in enhancing the quality of their wines, through a clear investment plan and research program that cover all facets of the production. The succes of such programs has enabled them to produce a line of wines coming from their grounds. The Pucci firm has received, ,through the years, international awards and numerous recognitions and it enjoys a great clientele. Manuela is also one of the main wine producers in the provincie of Massa Carrara, and her wines have a great standing both in Italy and in foreign countires. |
